Victoria King has been creating melodies since she could reach the piano. Her music is deeply melodic, story-driven, and evocative. She is currently a student at University of North Carolina School of the Arts and loves collaborating with artists of all disciplines from the performing arts, to film, to the written word.
As a versatile composer and collaborator, she has experience writing for film, dance, and theatre as well as the concert hall. Anything with a story excites her, which is evident in everything she creates. Her pieces have been performed and recorded by Ensemble Intercolor, the Balourdet Quartet, the Corvus ensemble as part of Fairbanks’ Summer Arts Festival’s “Composing in the Wilderness” program, and her orchestral premier in May, 2026 by the UNCSA symphony orchestra. This summer, she will participate in the Choral Arts Initiative Premiere Project Festival and Zodiac music academy and festival in France.
She also has experience in orchestrating and music directing for musical theatre. In 2025, she was the assistant music director for UNCSA's production of Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 and the music director of UNCSA's workshop of The Robber Bridegroom.
She is also a member of UNCSA's ArtistCorps working at Title I schools in Winston-Salem and with the "Music Between Us" team. She and the other team members at MBU engage with elders living with dementia, primarily through music, to combat the level of social isolation they so often experience.
